Below are the pictures of our entry in the Strolling Flower
Show held at Bell Tower on Feb. 7 & 8. Our window was Drapers and
Damons, a lovely women's clothing store. We came in with a 4th place
white ribbon and were thrilled. We now know what the judges are
looking for, as far as design, so we are hoping for a 1st place blue
ribbon next year!

Notice Better n" Butter and Think Pink from Eddie and Diane Kaye.....just beautiful. The title of the display was Beauty, Elegance & Innovation. It
is suppose to represent Mina Edison in her garden, among the bamboo,
rubber plants and Hibiscus......depicting Thomas Edison's 70 years of
innovation. Did you see the long stemed light bulbs in the watering
can.....????

A huge "thank you" to Diane Kaye and her daughter, Debra George
and Wanda Schmoyer for helping pull this together. It was fun
participating in a Garden Council event.......we look forward to next
year.

Our Chapter recently hosted the 2007 American Hibiscus Society National Convention in Fort Myers. There were approxiamately 75 members attending from all over the world. We even had a visitor fly all the way from Italy to find out how to grow Hibiscus!

For our first fund raiser this year, several members participated in the Home & Garden Show & Plant Sale at Harborside on September 15 and 16. We had 100 hybrid plants from Unbelieveable Hibiscus to sell and encouraged new members to join our chapter.
All but 14 plants were sold and we got two new members! Hopefully we will meet them at the October meeting. The rest of the plants will be sold to members at this upcoming meeting for $10 each or given away as raffles. If we sell them all, our chapter will make a profit!!
We would like to thank the following members for their hard work at the show:
Nancy Kopp, Wanda Schmoyer, Ed Parke, Craig Curtis, Karla Holmes, Jerry Holmes, Tom Adams, Mary Adams, Helen Sanders, John Cocolis, Toni Czerny, Frank Heffernan, & Roane MacMurtrie.
It was a lot of fun but since our tent was not air conditioned, it was very very hot! Jerry and Helen even worked two shifts!!! Also, Ed and Wanda set up and unloaded the plants on Friday. What dedication from everyone involved!
THANK YOU....THANK YOU....THANK YOU......
